Essence Shape Your Face Contouring Palette - Review and Swatches

Friday, February 12, 2016

I've always liked contour palettes! They are so convenient. I am always too lazy to use an actual single highlighter. Do you like to use contouring palettes, or do you prefer to use individual products? The new contour palette from Essence combines a blush, a shading and a highlighting powder. At my drugstore they only sell this product in the shade number 10 ready, set, peach! This palette is supposed to give you a perfectly contoured face in just three steps. It also comes with directions on the back.

This product doesn't come with a mirror and the packaging is made out of transparent plastic. However I really like that all powders are separated from each other and I also love that the pans are big enough for all kinds of makeup brushes. The shades won't mix on accident and the patterns on the powders are kinda sweet.
The texture of these powders is very soft without any fallout. All shades are nicely pigmented and blendable. These powders are long lasting and won't fade a lot during the day. A big plus for me is that the shading powder has a matte finish and even the highlighter isn't overly shimmery. Only the blush contains some glitter, but it isn't that noticeable on my face.

Blush is a peachy coral color with golden micro glitter
Highlighter is a light beige color with a pearly finish
Bronzer is a cool toned brownish color with a matte finish

Overall I really like this product. All powders are nicely pigmented and very blendable. It looks very natural on my face and it's great for every day. I was surprised that all shadows will last up to 8 hours on my oily skin and they won't look patchy during the day. Another big plus is the soft texture and that none of these powders have any fallout. However I wish that this product would be available in more than one shade. Have you tried this product and how do you like it?
